Thabiso Aro Moyakhe, born in Johannesburg, South Africa is a stills & fashion photographer - director

His love for photography developed at a young age, finding fulfilment in the ability to capture and share his innermost thoughts, emotions and dreams in a medium that required minimal verbal expression. This led to a interest in film as well.

From childhood, he had always been drawn to the metaphysical- questioning the idea of life, its ideals, our purpose and where we are going. This is a theme he incorporates in all of his work- as subliminal as those nuances may be.

After graduating, he went on to work with noted fashion photographer Francesco Carrozzini in his atelier in Manhattan, New York City. This exposed him to an intense work environment which shaped his skill as a photographer even further.

With Francesco, he has been able to work with internationally recognized icons, musicians, actors and personalities such as Nicki Minaj, A$AP Rocky, Lana Del Rey, Willem Dafoe and Lenny Kravitz and many more as assistant photographer/director.

Being inspired by an array of iconic individuals from all walks of life and occupations, mainly photographer William Eggleston, painter Gustave Coubert, poet Walt Whitman and philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche, his work takes on a particular doleful atmosphere- a bare visual representation of all things felt & not voiced.

Since his return to South Africa, Thabiso runs his own Studio and debuted his first solo photo exhibition entitled ‘The Story of Man’ which showed on the 28th September, 2016. The Story of Man will be exhibited again at Collectve Thursday @ The Generator Parkmore on the 30th of August 2018.
